The front and the back cover were left until all content of the magazine was finished, in order to make sure they both fit within the subject matter.
A complicated process that has undergone many changes, designing the front cover was crucial to the overall magazine identity.
The group decided to use double-exposure as the tool for creating the front cover, mainly overlaying two different photographs. Therefore, two pictures were taken: one profile picture and another one with a woman covering her eyes, so that we adhere to the publication’s rule of not revealing the model’s identity. Then, a mirror was added to represent the body image issues social media pressures individuals into. Along with the title, the front cover and the back cover, we aimed to visually show that appearance is not everything.
Using Pinterest, the group found several double-exposed images, like this one they took inspiration from:

Later, our supervisor advised us to add collage-type eyes over the models’ hands:

There were also some adjustments to be made to the sub info; the font was changed so as to be same as the footnotes one (Adobe Garamond Italic). This is how the next version of the cover looked:

Moreover, an overlay mirror was added and the title became a gradient with the same nail colour as the model’s. This is the final version of the front cover:

The back cover is an edit of a picture we took during a photography session. It doesn’t show any of the models’ full faces or bodies and, showing three women smiling, it is a hopeful conclusion for this magazine.
